Q.Where are you located, and what areas do you service? Bluefire Photography is located in
Q. When and how do I pay? Sitting fees are due on the date of your portrait session. Final payment for all portrait prints is due when you place your order. I accept cash or check or PayPal.
Q. Are you the person who takes our portrait photographs? YES! I will always be the person taking your pictures. I don't subcontract other photographers.
Q. How many people can I bring to the photography session? As many people as you would like.
Q. Location or studio shoot? For natural relaxed portraits with backdrops rich in texture, and the added emotional content that comes with the inclusion of familiar surroundings and nature, it has to be location. For a clean minimalist look or high key, the studio has it all.
Q. Does is cost more for location? No! As long we stay inside
Q. What should I wear? There are no absolute rules for what you should wear but the following guidelines should help: Choose formal or casual clothing but for family or group portraits try not to have one person in casual dress while everyone else goes for a more formal look. Wear what you like and what you feel comfortable in. Avoid large logos as these date the pictures quickly. Be prepared to remove shoes and socks as this adds a dimension of intimacy and fun. Black & white portraits emphasize tones and textures, so choose simple clothing. For more formal portraits, consider a plain shirt or garments with a collar. For relaxed ‘contemporary’ portraiture a simple white or dark t-shirt is ideal. Please bring a couple of changes of clothes to try different looks. Longer sleeves tend to be more flattering on adults (shirts or blouses). Try to wear classic designs like plain shirts or t-shirts as more fashionable garments may date quickly.
Make-Up-
Hair-Don't forget your hair brush.
Q. Can I purchase a gift voucher? Yes, I sell gift vouchers all year round, making them the perfect gift for new parents, work colleagues and godparents who are looking for a quality lasting gift that they can cherish for the rest of their lives. Vouchers are also a popular gift to mark family gatherings, birthdays, anniversaries, retirements or any special occasions.
Q. Is there a minimum order?
Yes, but only on professional prints. I require a minimum order of $40, if you need to place a smaller order please contact me to discuss.
Q. Won't portraits at home just look like our own snaps? Not at all, and you don't need to live in a stately home either. The exclusive use of window light will darken and soften familiar and everyday backgrounds into complimentary textures leaving subtle hints of home that provoke the memory as time passes.
Q. What if my children run riot? No problem, as a mother of two I am quite used to high spirits, and strong wills. A laid back approach usually wins through in time.
Q. Can we have our pets in the photographs? Absolutely! All special requests catered for. It’s important that shoots are fun for everyone involved.
Q. Posed or Candid’s? Why not BOTH? Posed are always great, but people don't always like the stiff look. I like to get a combination of posed and candid shots - sometimes it takes longer.
Q. What about the Terrible Twos? It's hard to get a toddler to take a posed photo - they just don't get it. Once the flash goes once, they think it's all over. Why keep sitting here and shooting the same photo when there are so many things to explore? We recommend letting them be kids and trying NOT to push too much. The more you push the more they resist. Sometimes a stranger can coerce a reluctant child into cooperating! Sometimes they can be bribed, and sometimes we get cute candid shots in between the more formal shots. Lots of praise and encouragement for the most reluctant usually goes a long way. Before, during and after the shoot.
Q. What happens if a photographer gets sick, or we need to reschedule? In the unfortunate event the photographer is sick; I will call you immediately and find a time to reschedule. If you need to reschedule, please call me as soon as possible. If I am not notified of your need to cancel a fee will be charged.
Q. Do you shoot in Black and White, Color or both? Bluefire Photography takes all photos in color. Any of your pictures can be converted to Black and White upon request.
Q. Will my pictures have a Matte or Glossy finish? All images are printed with a Matte finish.
Q. Do I need to supply any props? I love to incorporate special items in our pictures such as a blanket, doll, or toy that your child can't live without. So please feel free to bring them along.
Q. Your calendar shows your booked the day I need? Please contact me right away via email or phone. Depending what is already scheduled that day, I may be able fit you in.
